Karen
was 12 years old when her parents started this company, so she was
raised with the company integrated into our daily lives. Her father
had travelled all over the world hunting, fishing and exploring since
she was very young, so it came as no surprise, when he decided that
he would like to bring international sportsmen and women to Australia
to hunt and fish. It is a common dream to turn your hobby into your
job.
Karen left school at 17 and attended business college to become a
professional secretary. She worked for several businesses throughout
the Newcastle region, gaining experience in various areas of office
administration. During this time she often helped Bob and Kay with
the business part-time until 1997, when she joined the company full-time
as the office/business manager. Her passion is marketing. She enjoys
giving our clients what they want, and loves to exceed their expectations,
giving them the holiday of their dreams.
She
travels to USA each year with Bob on his promotional tours and run
the day to day business of the company from our home in Newcastle
with the assistance of secretaries Paula McLennan and Sharon Brown.
Between
them, they manage to run the office 90% of the time (when Bob and
Kay are either in the field guiding, or on promotional tours). They
liaise with the clients and staff, and organise hunting throughout
Australia, New Zealand and New Caledonia. Organising the hunts, getting
all of the various gun permits, making trophy shipping tags for each
clients trophies and ensuring that all of the booking information
is distributed to all of the guides in all of our camps, can sometimes
be a challenge. However, we always manage to get these things done
in a timely manner.
