The Gateway City in the Northern Territory is Darwin, a city of 30,000 people in the far north of the state. Darwin has a number of good hotels and very interesting local tours.

Best Times for Hunting
The best months for hunting are the cool dry winter months of May to September. The waterways dry out, attracting the game animals to the remaining water.

Normally by May each year, we burn off all of the dead grass in many of the hunting areas. This produces new green grass, which attracts the game animals during the dry season which makes the hunting easier and more productive.

In the semi-desert areas where we hunt donkeys, horses and camels, we do not burn the grass. Most of our hunting is conducted in remote, exclusive, private cattle ranches, from our own camps.

 

Hunting Methods
All hunting is conducted from our 4WD Toyota Landcruisers. When the Buffalo are located, we stalk them on foot.

Wild Boars are hunted over strategically placed baits, either early in the morning, late in the afternoon or in the evenings. We hunt boars by stalking, or from high seats.

All Culling hunts are conducted by cruising all of the farm tracks and waterways in our Toyotas.

 

Hunting Equipment
Rifles for hunting should be 308W or 30-06 for Culling, 30-60 or 300 Magnum for Boars and Goats, and 9.3 x 64, 375 H&H or larger for Buffalo. We recommend only premium brand soft point ammunition for all hunting.

Use only the heaviest weight bullets for Buffalo hunts. We can arrange rifle entry permits for those hunters who wish to bring their own firearms to Australia. For those hunters who do not wish to bring their own firearms, our quality Leupold scope equipped rifles may be hired at a reasonable cost.

Best Times for Fishing
The best times for Sport Fishing are the months of April and May, and then again in September and October. However, good barrumundi fishing can be had all year round.

Our Sport Fishing areas are a combination of fresh water billabongs, fresh water streams, tidal reaches and salt water. In some areas, it is best to fish from the banks but most times we employ the use of our especially built outboard powered boats.

 

Fishing Method
We have several lightweight aluminium Toyota-top boats, which we use, in remote inaccessible areas.

In accessible areas we use our two custom-built "Barra" boats which are stable fishing platforms powered by fast mariner outboards.

For Open Water Fishing we use our 18-foot aluminium 6 seat, 75 horsepower Yamaha powered boat.

 

Fishing Equipment
We have custom-built rods equipped with the latest SS Penn reels, a huge supply of lures and other high quality fishing equipment. We are equipped to cater for both inexperienced or highly experienced fishermen and women.

 

Weather Conditions
We have two seasons in the Northern Territory. "The wet season" from November to March, when the weather is hot and wet during our summer months. By mid October, the humidity begins to rise in the build-up to the wet season. This is the time when you need to swim regularly and relax in the cool shade of the trees to keep yourself comfortable.

"The dry season" is from April to October, when the weather is cool and dry during our winter months. The average daytime temperature in winter is 25°C to 28°C (75°F to 85°F) with nighttime temperatures dropping from 16°C down to a low 8°C (65°F to 50°F) on the coldest winter nights.

 

Hunting and Fishing Camps and Facilities Available
Most of our camps are comfortable tent camps, which are fully equipped with comfortable beds, sheets, pillows, blankets and towels. Every tent is large and roomy, fully insect screened, with opening flaps to admit cooling evening breezes.

Most of our meals are prepared on our large gas barbecues. We pride ourselves on the quality of our meals, which are a mixture of fresh produce flown in, frozen food supply and quality meats. We sometimes have mouthwatering, fresh Barramundi from our fishing camp.

All of our camps have 240-volt power, refrigerators, a deep freezer with unlimited ice supply and cold drinks, clothes washing facilities, unlimited supply of hot water for the showers and a home style full flush toilet.
