Blackbuck
Antelope originally inhabited large areas of India, they are now almost
extinct in their native land. They were exported widely around the world
and these export destinations included Australia.
Unfortunately,
they are no longer wild and free in Australia, however they are currently
available in several large game ranches.
Fortunately, Hunt Australia has access to the biggest and best of these
ranches where mature Blackbuck are available in limited numbers.
Hunting
Method
These
Blackbuck are hunted during our dry season from April until October.
The hunting is conducted by cruising the farm tracks in a 4WD and then
stalking them on foot.

Equipment
Long
range shooting may be required, therefore a scoped 243W or 270W with
medium weight bullets is ideal for these lightly framed animals. Comfortable
sneakers or lightweight "birdshooter" boots with lightweight cotton
camo, wide brim hat and good binoculars are most suitable for this hunt.

Weather Conditions
The
weather in the Blackbuck hunting area is warm to hot during the day,
however, the temperature drops to be quite cool during late evening
or early morning hunts. At this time a lightweight jacket will be required,
however by mid morning dark cotton camo will be most suitable.

Transport,
Accommodation and Facilities
Transport during the Blackbuck hunts is by 4WD Toyota. When
the antelope are located, we make the final stalk on foot. Accommodation
at the Blackbuck hunting area is at the local motel or on the ranch.
Our meals are taken at the homestead, in the field or at the motel.
Blackbucks make a beautiful and interesting trophy and may easily
be added to any other big game hunt in the South Pacific region…
