Axis
Deer are available wild and free on a huge working cattle ranch in Queensland
and in a Game Ranch in South Australia.
The
best time to hunt Axis Deer is from February until June, however they
can be hunted all year round.
Hunting Method
The Axis Deer range over sparsely timbered grasslands. Transport is
by 4WD Toyota Landcruisers. Herds of Axis are glassed from the Toyota,
however, when a desired trophy is located, a final stalk is made on
foot.
Your guide is an experienced hunter and guide and will attend to the
skinning, boiling and head preparation.

Equipment
We recommend that our hunters should bring a rifle of minimum 270W calibre,
with 7MM Mag or 300 Win Mag being highly desirable. Ammunition should
be accurate, premium grade, as there are very often long range shots
to be taken.
Clothing
should be cotton camouflage or similar, with a warm jacket for early
morning and late evening hunts. Boots should be lightweight, vibram
soled walking boots as the terrain is mostly rolling hills with eucalyptus
forest and open grazing areas. Great for spot and stalk hunting. You
will require good quality binoculars on all of our hunts.

Weather Conditions
As Axis are hunted over widely separated areas and conditions across
Australia, the weather conditions vary considerably.
The weather in each of the hunting areas during the hunting season is
generally warm sunny days with cool to cold nights.

Accommodation and
Facilities
In Queensland, where the Axis are wild and free, the accommodation is
in the farmers homestead with his family.
In South Australia accomodation and meals are at a modern nearby motel.
Comfortable facilities are provided in each hunt location.
